Three vaccinations today, along with COVID conversations at CVS.

Today I went to CVS for a prescription refill, and to my surprise, received three different vaccinations instead of what I expected.

My local pharmacy, while a part of a national chain, operates more like a local, friendly pharmacy, rather than a soulless retail giant. Maybe it’s because I’ve been going to the same pharmacy for a long time; however, they often pro-actively leave phone messages for me when something is due to be picked up.

While I was expecting a flu shot; I walked out additionally inoculated against pneumonia and shingles. Who knew? Now, if only a company would come up with a cost-effective, readily available COVID-19 vaccine, we’d all rest easy.

While I was waiting, several older people came in for one prescription or another. In each case, each patient inevitably asked the pharmacy technician if there was anything they could take for the virus? There’s no such drug or vaccine, yet people are very, very concerned and, hoping for a breakthrough.

While I am protected against three significant health hazards that I probably won’t get, it sure doesn’t lessen my fear of testing positive for the virus. About three months ago, I took a test, with negative results; one day, this may or may not be valid.

I am terrified.
