Today really is a day to be thankful

Despite the anxiety and global health concerns, we all do have things to be thankful for.

Heaven knows there’s enough noise around us to forget the important things; however, this is a day to pause and reflect on life and change.

Like everyone else, my Thanksgiving plans were derailed; I didn’t travel to family gatherings and today is a smaller version of what we all love. Yet, I am healthy, my family and friends are also, and I’m very thankful for that.

One family member I’ll be with today is a lovely, active, and engaging 12-year old “tween.” I’ve known her all of her life; she was born prematurely, weighing 1 pound, 6 ounces. She was in intensive care for several weeks, fighting for her life.

During this time she had an army of moms and career “prayer warriors” supporting her, praying for her every day. I learned a lot from this effort and, today, she is a fantastic young lady who makes me (and everyone else) happy.

Every time I look at photos of her over the years (I have about 2500 of them in my photo storage) I smile. She is someone I am always and ever thankful for.

We’ll all be happier in 2021. Of that, I am sure.
