How to feel American Pride

As we approach the 4th of July, we’ll be surrounded by images of American Pride. I’m here to tell you if you want to instantly feel the power of American Pride, visit Pensacola, Florida for one of the training flights of the Blue Angels.

The Blue Angels precision flying team is based in Pensacola, and regularly, their practice sessions are open to the public. This all takes place near the Museum of Naval Aviation (which in itself is fantastic.) The flight team is something you have to see to believe, and if you’ve ever wondered how good US Navy aviators are, this is the place to see it for yourself.

They tour extensively for air shows, and while that’s certainly fun, nothing compares to the sight and sound of their team of F-18 fighters screaming overhead. At the training sessions, everyone is seated right on their flight line – this gives new meaning to the phrase Up Close and Personal.

During last week’s show, one of the aviators encountered a mechanical problem and sensibly elected to land. This left the remaining team one aircraft short for their maneuvers. In short order, the pilot who landed, quickly moved to another, spare plane and yep, minutes later he was traveling at top speed to join his other teammates for the remainder of the session.

Every single time I see them, I am proud of our Country.

Happy Birthday, America.
